It’s Blogmas. Yay! Blog + Christmas = Blogmas. I’ll be posting to my website every day in December right up unto the new year. Each post will be holiday themed to bring you good cheer. First up, a DIY project for an easy crochet hat to keep you warm and cozy this winter in style.
Even if you’re not experienced at following patterns — which I have to admit I am not — these instructions are easy to follow. I found this pattern on Ravelry. You have to be a member to have access to the crochet and knit patterns, but this particular project also provided an external link to the instructions for this hat.

The reason this hat is so easy is because it’s all done with the single crochet stitch. Not only is the single crochet easy, it makes a nice even pattern that almost looks like knitting. Click here for a video tutorial on how to perform the single crochet stitch.
This is what single crochet looks like. I’m making my hat in this lovely raspberry color. This is the first few rows of what will be the brim of the hat.
This is what the final product looks like: a cute, warm hat. The picture of the white hat is from Ravelry.
Have you ever tried to crochet? It’s very easy once you get the hang of it. If you want an even easier project, try making a scarf. Make a chain as long as you want the scarf to be, and then make rows of single crochet until you get the scarf as wide as you want it to be. You can switch off every so many rows to a different color to make a striped scarf. Or search on YouTube for tutorials of other interesting crochet stitches. It’s fun to make something with your own hands.
Let me know if you try it. I’d love to see your easy crochet hat.
