Is there anything lovelier than a luxurious hot cocoa with homemade marshmallows on a cold and blustery day. They are not just for kids. They are perfect for the young at heart as well.

Most recipes I found online are for vanilla marshmallows, but you can substitute any flavoring for the vanilla. I love a touch of peppermint in my cocoa. Orange would also be lovely, or any other fruit flavor. I found a very detailed video explaining how to make homemade marshmallows. I really like this video because the host explains why she is doing each step to help us avoid mistakes. I also found a lovely recipe for homemade cocoa that is only 50 calories per serving.

Normally, I create my own recipes, but these are too good not to share. Let’s start with the cocoa.

This cocoa recipe is from a YouTube channel called Emmaโ€™s Goodies. She has over a million and a half subscribers so she must be doing something right. Her cocoa recipe is only 50 calories but itโ€™s a small serving. If you want a full mug, just double the recipe.

It goes really well with the marshmallow recipe. Homemade marshmallows always look really complex to me, but this video by the Sugar Geek Show shows that it’s not all that complicated. There is no substitute for the texture and flavor of homemade marshmallows.

Have a sweet holiday. Enjoy!
