Your Dolce Vita Practice of the Week: Fresh Flowers

Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. ~ Hans Christian Andersen

Action Item: Treat yourself to fresh flowers.
You can get them at the market or cut them from your own garden. Fresh flowers brighten up a room and make people smile. I’ve never met anyone who didn’t think flowers are beautiful.

Go one step further and take a photo of your flowers to enjoy later. I use these pictures as background images on my phone or my computer, so their beauty lives on long after the blooms have faded.

Pictured above:

Top left: The hydrangea are from my sister’s garden. I always find it hard to cut flowers when they are in full bloom. But if you don’t they will wither, and if you do they will continue to bloom throughout the summer.

Just underneath: I love pink and orange together. I arranged these tiny roses on a table right inside my front door so I can see them as soon as I come home.

Top right: Daisies were one of my mother’s favorite flowers. They always look so happy.

Bottom left: This is me being artsy. This rose was from my backyard when I lived in California. I put the picture through a filter in Photoshop to make it look like an oil painting.

Bottom right: This lovely mix of blossoms were at a meditation retreat I attended at the Lake Shrine Temple on Sunset Boulevard in California. I didn’t pick any, I just photographed them.

Treat yourself to some fresh flowers. Take a picture and share it on my Facebook page. I’d love to see them. How did they make you feel?
